Formation of a basic wardrobe as an aspect of the concept of conscious consumption

Abstract. The article is devoted to the identification of principles and patterns in the qualitative and quantitative composition of the range of clothing present in the basic wardrobe of a modern woman in terms of compliance with the principles of conscious consumption. Such aspects of conscious consumption as the reuse of things, the recycling of clothes, the digitalization of the fashion industry and the relationship of eco-design, the development of reasonable, conscious consumption as part of society’s request for environmental protection and the formation of a basic wardrobe are characterized. The historical prerequisites for the emergence of the principles of the formation of a basic wardrobe are studied: minimalism as a way to simplify the wearing of women’s clothing and the modern desire for neutrality and utilitarianism, the influence of constructivism on fashion’s desire for comfort, transformation and blurring of gender differences in clothing, minimizing the quantitative composition of the assortment with great opportunities for combining relevant images. A survey was conducted using social networks and the Googl-form service, according to the results of which the qualitative and quantitative composition of the range of clothes present in the wardrobe of a modern woman was analyzed. The concepts of «basic wardrobe», «Wardrobe work area» are given. The speed and methods of updating the clothes of the audience in question are studied. The stylistic preferences in the clothes of the studied audience, the color content of the assortment composition of the wardrobe and the influence of these characteristics on the possibilities of combining clothes are revealed. Conclusions are drawn that the availability of functional kits for different occasions with a minimum of quantitative composition allows a modern woman to purchase clothes less often and, accordingly, invest in higher-quality and expensive things, which corresponds to the desire for a rational approach in the formation of a wardrobe and interest in reducing the negative impact of the fashion industry on the environment.
