Abstract. One of the most important indicators in the development of winter sportswear are indicators that characterize the degree of human protection from external influences, including cold, wind, moisture, etc. In the article, an analysis of heat sensitivity of various parts of the human body during sports activities is made, and the areas of particular heat sensitivity on the human body depending on gender attributes are identified. «Climatic zones» are described and graphically represented on templates of technical sketch of a human figure with indication of corresponding indices and characteristics. Zoning is done on the parts of the torso, legs, arms, head and hands. The zones are marked with different colors and graphics to enable overlapping of patterns when designing clothes for climatic zones with several leading characteristics. The article provides a description of the six «climatic» zones to be oriented to when designing sportswear. Recommendations are given for the selection of materials for each zone, taking into account the characteristics and peculiarities of the indicators. Men and women need winter clothes, which will consist of several layers of materials: the base (lower) layer — moisture transporting; the middle layer — breathable and heat insulating; the outer (upper) layer — windproof and breathable. Such sequence of layers ensures moisture transportation from inside to outside and selective passage of cold fresh air between the layers. One result of the research is the discovery of a genetically specific difference between the thermal behavior of the male and female body. A second result of the research is to obtain data to populate a digital tool for designing winter sportswear.
