Abstract. The article presents the results of a study conducted to identify the design features of special shoes for professional dancing of the «jazzki» model, which have a negative impact on the performance properties, comfortable, productive and safe operation of the foot, taking into account the specifics of the dance program. The study involved qualified artists, members of renowned dance ensembles, students of specialized educational institutions and dancers with significant experience in the profession.

The research was conducted in two stages. The first stage is a focus group interview to determine the main positions of dissatisfaction with the «jazzers». Based on the results of the interview, a questionnaire of 30 questions was compiled for conducting the second stage of research among a larger number of dancers. In the group of 79 participants, the intensity of exploitation of jazzers in professional activities and such problems as inconsistency of the internal shape of shoes, satisfaction with the size range of models presented on the Russian market, methods of fixing jazzers on the foot, stiffness in the heel and diaper parts when the foot is working in various amplitudes, the strength of adhesive seams fastening the details of the bottom were revealed shoes, the properties of the materials of the bottom and top of shoes that affect the comfortable work of the feet when performing a dance program. The results obtained are part of the experimental research of the dissertation work.

The article is part of a series of publications covering scientific work in the field of designing and improving special shoe designs, including for professional dancers.
