Abstract. The bright, pretentious style of Art Deco, which appeared at the beginning of the 20th century today is becoming the most relevant source for inspiration of modern designers and artists. Interest in this style has spread to various types of art and creativity: visual arts, arts and crafts, packaging, interior decoration, book graphics, fashion. Art Deco attracts with its luxury and sophistication, it harmoniously combines laconic simple silhouettes of clothes with complex draperies, geometric lines with exquisite decorations: embroidery, applique, decorative decoration.

The article analyzes the style-forming factors of the Art Deco artistic style from the perspective of the study of historical costume: analysis of the silhouette, decorative design, cut, color scheme, ornamental solutions, etc.

The authors presented an algorithm for researching an Art Deco style costume in order to search for new design solutions in the design of a modern elegant look. The proposed methods of information processing such as: historical reconstruction, historical stylization, historical reminiscence, the «method of eclecticism», serve as an impetus in the search for new extraordinary artistic and design solutions.
