Abstract.<\/strong> When designing new, competitive products of the light industry, an important role is played by the design solution, the improvement of design and manufacturing technology. These components must be taken into account when creating a rational assortment of an enterprise, and as a result, a rational consumer wardrobe. This article discusses the formation of a rational men’s assortment, describes the result of the work on the creation of a new, technological way to connect two types of products and options for their transformation. Scientific work was carried out taking into account consumer demand for the rationality of products and wardrobe as a whole, as well as on the basis of an analysis of the current state of development of equipment and technologies for light industry products. In the course of the work, a set was developed, consisting of two products: a down vest and a short coat made of a suit of pure wool. The novelty of the kit lies in the use of an improved technological processing unit \u2014 a connection unit for a down vest and a short coat along the side seam using a zipper braid. A feature of the knot is the use of an additional detail that hides the zipper braid. The use of this part does not reduce the ease of use of products and improves their performance. The created model of a transforming set of men’s outerwear was evaluated by potential consumers: 48 % liked the proposed model; 79 % \u2014 noted the convenience of using the knot connecting the vest and short coat; 65 % are satisfied with the proposed type of coat collar; 80 % \u2014 the length of the short coat is convenient; 62 % \u2014 say that the set will suit the existing wardrobe; 71 % \u2014 like the choice of color scheme; 66 % \u2014 would like to purchase a similar set; 69 % noted the convenience of a down vest as a removable part of the set.<\/p>\n
