The results of experimental studies of the knitted fabrics compression ability for household and medical purposes are presented. The proposed method is based on determining the index of dynamic elasticity and the coefficient of dynamic change in elasticity during the process of multi-cycle deformation of a knitted fabric sample cut in the direction of the product projected width. The physical meaning of the dynamic elasticity index is the ratio of the energy expended to deform a sample of a knitted fabric to the expended energy required to compress it at equal strain rates. Currently, there are combined compression products made from a combination of canvases of various production methods, for example, compression products for sports purposes Medi CEP, so the proposed method was tested among warp and circular knitted fabrics. An analysis of the obtained dynamic elasticity indicators and the coefficient of dynamic change in elasticity for the studied fabrics allows us to draw logical conclusions — a decrease in the test load (reduction in the range of deformation of the knitted fabric sample) leads to an increase in the dynamic elasticity index both in the first and in the fifth test cycles, and, therefore, to an increase in the coefficient of dynamic change in elasticity. As a result of the study, a method was formulated for determining the compressibility of a knitted fabric in terms of dynamic elasticity and the coefficient of dynamic change in elasticity. Fabrics with a dynamic elasticity index Pde ≥ 76 % and a coefficient of dynamic elasticity change kde ≥ 0.91 can be considered appropriate for the design of compression products. The choice of the working range of the sample of knitted fabric deformations for the purpose of designing compression products, limited to 20 % of the ultimate elongation, is justified. In this case, one should take into account the possible decrease in the compression effect during the operation of the product and carry out an appropriate assessment of the indicators of the variability of the properties of knitted fabrics under prolonged loads.

Keywords: decor; children’s clothing; hygiene; digital printing; ecology; safety; breathability; moisture absorption

Pokrovskaya Tamara Dmitrievna Russian State University named A.N.
