The intensive development of digital technologies and their ubiquitous nature are becoming favorable conditions for the introduction of neural networks in both production and educational design cases. The authors considered the possibility of introducing AI at the stages of creating a concept, drawing up a moodboard and a colorboard, which later help the designer develop original sketches of the collection.

During the study, an experiment was conducted with the Dall-E 3, one of the most powerful diffusion models to date. The creative source for the collection of clothing, shoes and accessories was the famous Orenburg shawl, which inspires modern designers with its traditional beauty. Reinterpretation of Russian motifs is especially in demand today in domestic fashion, especially in the context of creating comfortable, aesthetic and functional knitwear products.

The experiment also resulted in the development of a natural sample — a knitted top, which suggests the possibility of carrying out a full cycle of creating fashion products.

The article provides a brief overview of foreign and domestic experience in using AI technologies in costume design. The results of generation in Russian and English languages were also demonstrated, the operation of the Dall-E 3 was analyzed, and sketches of clothes, shoes and accessories on the theme of the Orenburg down scarf were presented.

The presented work describes one of the experiences of using AI in the process of artistic design; the formulated approach can be applied in other areas of light industry in the context of different creative topics.

Keywords: artistic design; Orenburg shawl; Russian style; knitwear; design of clothes, shoes and accessories; generative artificial intelligence; neural networks

Burova Mariia Dmitrievna Russian State University named A.N.
