The creation of a technology for the conservation of archaeological objects made of leather will allow the use of a new preservative for objects with a satisfactory state of preservation, in order to give them physical, mechanical and chemical stability, stop or slow down degradation processes in the volume of leather tissue. The paper presents research on samples of archaeological objects (a.o.) made of genuine leather obtained from fragments of the upper part of shoes dated to the end of the 17th \u2014 the beginning of the 18th centuries. Archaeological sites were discovered during excavations of the Tatar Slobodka in 2011\u20132014 on the island of Sviyazhsk. Characteristics of the preservation state: raw materials \u2014 hides of large cattle of vegetable tanning; thickness \u2014 0,2\u20130,3 mm.; cultural layer \u2014 pH &gt; 40 %; detail \u2014 shoe shaft; color uneven (dark \u2014 light brown); mechanical damage to the front layer and back; deformation of household and from the occurrence in the cultural layer. The results of the study of the influence of preservatives (polyethylene glycols and acrylic resin) on the characteristics of the properties of archaeological objects made of leather after the conservation process are given. The following properties were determined for the study: hygroscopicity, moisture release, vapor permeability, vapor capacity, drip absorption time, and contact angle.
