This process was accompanied by the accelerated development of scientific research and technical innovations, an increase in industrial production and an improvement in the standard of living of the population. At the same time, economic growth has led to an increased negative impact on the environment. Linear economic models typical of countries with a capitalist economic system have led to the emergence of the phenomenon of fast fashion. Light industry enterprises have taken leading positions among the industries that have the most adverse impact on the planet&#8217;s ecosystems. The question arises about the possibility and ways to overcome the current negative trend. This article is devoted to the study of the role of designers in the industrial sector and the development of principles of professional activity aimed at changing the existing practices of production and consumption. In the course of the research, special attention was paid to a detailed study of the methodology of \u00abdesign thinking\u00bb used in the field of designing light industry products. After a thorough analysis of the features of this methodology, it was adapted and applied as part of the author&#8217;s project.
