It has been established that average height changes differ between groups of men and women, and also vary geographically. This acceleration is considered a global factor influencing the economy.

The authors analyzed the dynamics of body height changes in the Russian male population and found that the group of tall men has grown in number. Among men with a high frequency of occurrence, individuals with increased dimensional parameters for height (184 cm and above) and limb length were identified.

Marketing research conducted by the authors on the satisfaction of the target consumer group with the fit of clothing available on the market revealed that tall men face the problem of inconsistency in their longitudinal dimensions. This identified problem is systemic and requires a rethinking of the strategy for the formation of industrial production batches of garments. Based on an analysis of current fashion trends, a marketing survey of consumer preferences, anthropometric data of typical figures, and international approaches to anthropometry, a technical specification for the design of shoulder clothing for tall men was developed using a parka as an example. Materials and design solutions were selected. The basic and model designs were tested, manufacturing allowances were calculated, material consumption was standardized, and safety and cost-effectiveness were assessed.

The study’s results allow for improved fit of garments designed for tall men, minimizing defects such as short sleeves, shallow pockets, and small hoods.

This study contributes to the development of a personalized approach to clothing design, taking into account the dynamics of changes in the anthropometric data of the population.

The study utilizes data from Russian and international experience, including an analysis of anthropometric discrepancies in finished garments.

Keywords: clothing design and modeling; anthropometric data; acceleration; marketing research; clothing fit

Guseva Marina Anatolievna Russian State University named A.N.
