The authors present a study the main characteristics of physical and mechanical properties of chloroprene rubber, a material widely used as base of a material for shoe upper details in the manufacture of footwear for various purposes. Modern methods for measuring physical and mechanical properties were used to solve the assigned tasks. The study determined standard characteristics of the physical properties of materials, such as density and hardness, water permeability, as well as standard indicators of mechanical properties under tensile and compressive deformations, and heat shrinkage. The research results were compared and contrasted with the requirements of regulatory and technical documentation. The study is being developed as part of the dissertation of I.A. Espenko \u00abJustification and development of rational constructions of footwear for various purposes based on the physical and mechanical properties of upper and bottom material packages\u00bb. The results obtained during the comprehensive study can be used by footwear companies in the production of everyday, sports, medical, orthopedic and preventive footwear, for activities in the water environment, as well as footwear for tourism, hunting and fishing, in order to achieve a rational selection of materials and material systems at the stage of design and technological preparation of production and to ensure high quality and the required level of consumer properties of finished footwear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Keywords:<\/strong> polymer materials; chloroprene rubber; neoprene; research methods; physical and mechanical properties; analysis; designs; quality; shoes<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Espenko Iuliia Alekseevna Russian State University named A.N.
