Elements of theatricalization in youth clothing

Abstract. The subject of the research is the analysis of the possibility of using theatrical elements in the design of youth clothing.

The article considers the search for new solutions for a youth wardrobe with elements of theatricality that correspond to modern fashion trends and the new realities of life. Reasons for the relevance of this topic and the need to express individuality through unconventional solutions and elements of theatre performance among young people have been formulated.

Attention is paid to studying theatricalization as a fashion phenomenon and the importance of theatrical imagery in everyday culture and fashion. The study of this topic helped to understand the specific features of the youth trend in clothing within subcultures, and the article examines the essence and philosophy of youth subculture and fashion, revealing the relationship between subculture and fashion.

The prerequisites for the emergence of the «cosplayers» style and movement among young people are studied. Their principles and interrelations with the fashion of subcultures are analysed. An example of a new design solution is given which contains a number of proposals for a youth wardrobe. The choice of artistic means of expression and constructive methods is determined, the principles of image development are clarified, and the author’s concept of theatrical elements in a youth wardrobe is revealed. The acute relevance of this topic is confirmed once again. Conclusions are drawn about the possibility of applying the data obtained to design activities.

The results of this work will allow for deeper theoretical knowledge in the field of youth culture and fashion, as well as the development of new design solutions for youth clothing.
