Abstract. This article explores the functions of clothing in detail. It has been established that, in addition to the functions inherent in household clothing in the classical sense, there is a world trend towards the creation of multifunctional products, in particular, capable of performing the functions of medical products, and also have a positive effect on the state of the body. For this purpose, the concepts of «norm», «prevention», «rehabilitation», «habilitation» have been investigated. Proposals are given to expand the functionality of clothing aimed at preventing diseases, expanding the functionality of products for people with disabilities and those with disabilities, as well as those created to prevent the development of socially significant diseases, treatment, rehabilitation and habilitation of people with disabilities.

The author has developed a cyclic system of functions performed by clothing depending on its purpose and the initial state of the organism. The options for implementing this functionality are considered in detail on the example of technical solutions developed, including by the author, for certain types of functional clothing and specialized devices, including technical means of rehabilitation.
