Abstract. The article is part of the dissertation research «Development of a method for designing customized capsule collections in a mass production environment». The article considers the design of personalized children’s clothing. Children’s clothing is a popular and important segment of the clothing market. There are a large number of methods for designing children’s clothing, but, unfortunately, none of the methods provides a perfect fit on a child’s figure. The problem lies in the outdated classification of dimensional features. Also, at present, there is an active transition to automated technologies — here there is a problem of incorrect transfer of data about the features of the external shape of children’s figures, not always the correct algorithm for constructing basic structures. In production conditions, it is the development of structures for a child’s figure that is poorly algorithmized and is often the author’s technique of the designer. Studies of domestic and foreign methods for designing children’s BC semi-adjacent dresses have shown that the anterior-posterior balance and the location of the shoulder seam are unsatisfactory. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that the methods do not work out the moment of finding the shoulder point, corrections of the anterior-posterior balance are necessary, and it is also necessary to note the moment of lowering the waist line to the mid-front line or introducing a tuck on the bulge of the abdomen. These points are key in the personalized design of children’s clothing. According to the results of the study of children’s figures, additional parameters were identified that are necessary for the design of children’s clothing: the length of the back to the waist is projection, the angle of the shoulder, the angle of the chest plane. With the help of these parameters, the methodology for designing the basic design of children’s clothing was adjusted. Approbation of the design technique on 20 children’s figures led to a satisfactory result. An improved methodology for designing the basic design of children’s clothing will help light industry enterprises in the direction of personalized products to establish a dialogue with the customer and improve the quality of products.
