Abstract. Objective: to deepen the understanding of proportions as a means of harmonizing the form of costume. Proportions law – the second law of composition is an important means of generating harmonic image, which determines the ratio of the entire portions to each other and to the whole. As a basis for the structure of every work of art, the proportions are a means of artistic expression objectively existing.

The proportions appear in the form of various mathematical relationships, both simple and irrational. Most harmonious proportion considered irrational golden ratio when the smaller part applies to most as large part refers to the whole.

This paper presents a technique of designing of flat and three-dimensional figures on the basis of planar and spatial grids constructed by the rules of the «golden section» in 3D. How to work with grids allows for points to create a new universal designs, as well as track changes silhouette shapes by changing the proportions of the components that make up the shape. The presence of the grid are proportional to the artist’s starting point it uses to select the proportions and articulation of principles for solving suit model or ornament.
