Abstract. Within the framework of the article, the relevance of the topic of design work is substantiated by the active development of the animation industry and the growing demand for costumes for animation. Based on the analysis of various types of animated costumes, their classification has been developed according to the method of shaping, type of construction, assembly, materials for production, and purpose.

Taking into account the specific features of design and manufacture, the stages of production of costumes for animation have been determined. To ensure the quality of products, studies were carried out to determine the consumer requirements of two groups of consumers: spectators and animators. The analysis of the requirements showed that the aesthetic indicators of the quality of the costume, as well as the preservation of the main indicators of the properties of the products, are important for the audience. The requirements of the animators are aimed at ensuring their physiological and safety needs. Based on the analysis of consumer requirements, requirements for the product and for materials were formed; recommendations were developed to ensure the aesthetic, ergonomic and operational properties of animation costumes. Special requirements are established for the air supply system of the animation suit: regardless of the type of construction, the product must provide sufficient air for the animator to breathe. For products made of materials with low permeability, it is recommended to provide special structural elements to ensure air exchange.

The article presents the author’s experience in designing and manufacturing a suit for a specific purpose — for children’s animation: a sketch was developed, the choice of materials was made, the design of parts and components was developed, the object was assembled. Based on the results of testing in real operating conditions, the quality of the suit was assessed, and recommendations for use were formed.
