Abstract. The current period of development of the clothing industry is dedicated to digitalization. Virtual fitting rooms have become a popular new technology in design. At the present stage, digital fashion is considered as an IT-technological analogue of the fashion for clothes familiar to society, and the design of digital clothes in real sizes is considered as a way to minimize production costs associated with the material intensity of the process. The reliability of the visual image of clothing and the final quality of design work is directly affected by the adequacy of the image configuration of the electronic figure.

The consumer female audience is distinguished by a variety of body configurations. The authors’ analysis of publications on interdisciplinary studies on the physique of modern women showed that body corpulence caused by excessive fat deposits is typical for a fifth of the adult population and a tenth of adolescents. Therefore, it is important to develop a segment of industries focused on this large group in the industry.

Modern women, regardless of the features of the external shape of the bodies, lead an active lifestyle and are interested in fashion. With the ubiquity of digital technologies, almost every resident of megacities and other settlements has sustainable user experience in online shopping, including clothing. Therefore, the use of digital fitting rooms is in demand.

The authors analyzed the shell configurations of typical avatars from the database of the popular CLO3D program, which implements virtual fitting of designed clothes. It has been established that the process of generating avatars of corpulent female figures needs to be improved.

The article presents an analysis of the process of generating personalized virtual female figures with excessive completeness, the authors developed an algorithm for obtaining an adequate shell of the avatar surface. The proposed method was tested on the example of the development of an elegant women’s dress for a plus-size female figure.

Keywords: physique; proportions; anthropometry; overweight female figures; types; virtual fitting rooms; avatars; validation; digital clothing
