Abstract. The article discusses the provisions related to the process of demographic growth in the Russian Federation and its impact on the economic standard of living of the population.
It has been established that the socio-demographic issue contributes to the development of the children’s clothing market. To this end, factors affecting the demand of children’s textile products have been investigated. The imported assortment of children’s clothing is presented on the Russian market better than the assortment of clothing from Russian manufacturers. Legal Russian production accounts for only 18.4 % of the total market volume. Russia does not have enough raw materials and resources to establish domestic production of children’s clothing, so about 80 % of all children’s clothing is supplied from the countries of Southeast Asia, China and Turkey. However, the products of an imported manufacturer have one significant drawback — there is no adaptation to the Russian climate, conditions and the level of life support of Russian citizens.
The author proposed an option for solving the socio-economic problems of young families through the introduction of smart technologies and the design of children’s clothes with specified properties.
