Abstract. The article examines the influence of air ions of various concentrations on the mechanism of accumulation of electrostatic charges in the system «footwear — person — environment». Footwear, as the first contact element between a person and the floor covering, plays a key role in the transformation and transfer of electrostatic charges. The impact of air ions helps to reduce the level of accumulation of static electricity on the surface of shoes, which, in turn, reduces the likelihood of discharges when in contact with other objects.
A specialized instrument base is used to carry out measurements, which includes a bipolar air ion generator and an individual recorder-indicator of the electrostatic field strength. The results of the experiments showed that the impact of positive air ions leads to a significant decrease in the strength of the electrostatic field of negative polarity on the experimenter’s body: depending on the spatial environment of the experiment, the decrease was from 30–35 % to 50 %.
The obtained data clearly confirm the correlation between aeroionic treatment and the reduction of the level of electrification. Convincing evidence is presented of the stability and reliability of the functioning of aeroions, as well as their ability to neutralize spontaneously occurring electrostatic charges in the room, regardless of their polarity.
Such findings emphasize the effectiveness of using aeroions to neutralize static charges and open up new opportunities for improving environmental and biological safety, which further emphasizes the importance of an integrated approach to the study of electrostatic phenomena, taking into account both physiological and environmental aspects.
