Abstract. The question of the form and shaping in the suit still remains «open», since unlike design, architecture and other kinds of applied art, the costume is a complex multi-level system that is constantly moving depending on the image and figure of a person. However, in order to understand how the form is formed and developed, it is necessary to define the very concept of form, to establish the criterion of form.

The questions of the form and shaping in a suit were previously considered only in general lecture courses for fashion designers, now there was a need and an opportunity to cover these issues for trikotazhnikov because of the specifics of this industry.

The article uses the work of students under the guidance of prof. O.I. Dokuchaeva.
