Abstract. The article examines the concepts of utility and comfort in contextshaping the aesthetics of modern costume. The research object is aspects of utility and comfort in design. The subject of research is influence utility and comfort on the shaping and aesthetics of modern suit.
A systematic approach to the object of research is implemented through such general scientific methods as methods of theoretical research, analysis and synthesis of the information obtained, and the comparison method. The method of practical testing and artistic modeling was implemented in the process of designing the author’s clothing collection.

The problem posed in this work was investigated in scientific works and literature not only from the point of view of costume design, but design in general. The history of the formation of clothing styles is touched by many by domestic and foreign authors on the history of the costume. Among them, Ermilova D.U., Mertsalova M.N., Kaminskaya N.M. other. The aspect of comfort and utility of a modern suit, to a greater extent, is touched upon in new articles when describing catwalk shows, innovative materials and technologies used in the design of collections and the fashion industry.

In the course of work on the collection, a pre-project study was carried out, which consists in collecting and organizing the collected materials, forming style concepts for comfortable clothes. As a result of the analysis of the information received, sketches were developed and the author’s collection was realized. The study led to the conclusion that the aspects of comfort in modern design remain relevant and in demand for a long time. The aesthetics of comfort, acquiring the nuances of self-expression, takes the desired positions with the consumer.
