Abstract. Currently, in the development of working clothes with protection against acids, materials from a mixture of wool and synthetic fibers are used due to the high rate of alkali resistance of the material surface. One of the important factors in the design of high-quality workwear is the correct selection of a package of material that protects against the effects of various harmful substances and moisture. To give the tissues the necessary acid-protective, water-, oil- and dirt – protective properties, they need to be water – repellent. Due to frequent washes of working clothes, impregnation should be resistant to repeated washes and dry-cleaning. In recent years, special attention is paid to the study of the properties of the hydrophobic surfaces of textile materials. The authors presented an overview of the applied textile auxiliaries and methods for imparting hydrophobic properties to textile materials. The authors of the article conducted a patent search in the field of application of organosilicon substances in textile and light industry. The dissertation papers devoted to the study of textile auxiliaries to impart hydrophobic properties of textile materials are considered. According to the analysis of the use of textile auxiliaries in the textile industry, it was found that water and dirt repellent impregnation of materials occupies an important place in the finishing processes of textile materials, contributing to changes in their characteristics. So, increase wetting angles, strength characteristics. At the same time such impregnations, as a rule, are economically viable. Also a big disadvantage is the availability of special equipment, that is, the work is practically not possible on an industrial scale. There is also a risk of deterioration of the strength properties of materials, the availability of additional equipment is required.
