Abstract. Thanks to new technologies in the fashion world, it has become possible to reduce costs and production time, while creating decorative effects of materials characterized by novelty, originality, perfect accuracy and symmetry.

The article discusses modern technologies, namely laser technologies in the design of clothing: the advantages of cutting fabric with a laser machine, software and equipment. The authors analyzed the properties of modern materials used for various types of laser treatment. The elements of decoration and finishing of products using advanced equipment and technologies are tested and presented.

Students of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics Education, Computer Science and Technology have created an original collection «Between the Past and the Future», which emphasizes the national motifs of Chuvash clothing in a modern interpretation. When designing the collection, the meanings of the symbols used by the Chuvash people in their clothes for centuries were studied and some fragments of the ornament were selected. The issues of popularization of cultural heritage among young people are touched upon.

Laser equipment and waste-free production technologies were used in the manufacture of the collection. The methods of technological processing of products from the proposed materials are presented.

The development and implementation of the projected collection was carried out as part of the educational process. The originality of the obtained results is confirmed by diplomas of various degrees. The prospects of using the theoretical and practical results of the research are in the process of professional training of engineers and teachers of the sewing profile.

Thus, the issues of traditions and innovations in the culture of a particular people acquire new importance with the use of advanced technologies, and in this work they allow us to design modern clothes while preserving national motifs at a new progressive level.
