Abstract. The article presents a calibration method for digital twins of non-stretch textile materials intended to improve virtual assessment of upper-body garment shape. The study aimed to develop an accessible procedure for adjusting a digital material by an integral drape indicator and to test whether the calibrated parameters remain valid when transferred from a disk test to a garment. Cotton Oxford shirting, denim, and coating fabrics with surface densities from 135 to 422 grams per square meter were investigated. The physical drape coefficient was determined from a digitized horizontal projection of a circular sample. The test geometry was reproduced in a virtual environment, and warp and weft bending parameters were adjusted by inverse selection until the discrepancy did not exceed five percent. The digital twins were independently verified using upper-body garment samples made from identical patterns. Eleven experts compared physical and virtual samples by the number, location, direction, and character of folds in three controlled zones. The drape coefficient discrepancies were 4,35, 4,56, and 2,80 percent. Denim and coating fabrics showed full agreement for all essential fold features. For the lightweight Oxford fabric, the location and direction of major folds coincided, while differences were limited to small-scale folds. The method supports evaluation of garment balance, proportions, and shape class. Its scope is limited to non-stretch materials and requires separate extension for extensible textiles.
