Abstract. The purpose of the study is to collect and subsequently analyze data to identify real consumer expectations before the start of the 2025/26 winter season. Scientific work was carried out within the framework of the study of fur as a material widely used by domestic manufacturers of fashionable clothing of various assortment and purpose. Fur («soft gold») is traditionally considered a unique natural wealth of Russia. In the 16th century, it served as a symbol of high status in Russian society, embodying wealth and prosperity. Expensive sable furs were an integral part of ancient Russian wedding ceremonies. The study is based on a social survey, a questionnaire aimed at identifying consumer preferences regarding the choice of fur winter outerwear. The questionnaire was compiled by the author and includes 18 questions. Residents of Moscow took part in the survey, including young people studying creative specialties: artists, designers (Appendix 1). In the course of the study, the following tasks were set: to identify the relevance of the use of fur in the production of outerwear. Determine consumer preferences regarding the range of outerwear. to establish preferences in choosing between faux and natural fur. To study the preferences of buyers in terms of types of fur semi-finished products, methods of their decoration, length, color, style, use of innovative materials, decorative elements and accessories. This data is essential to form the foundational characteristics that enable designers to develop high-quality, in-demand products. Modern innovative technologies ensure the creation of high-quality fur raw materials. Analysis of the aesthetic appeal of fur and the study of consumer preferences will allow you to design competitive outerwear and create original designer collections.
