Abstract. The article presents the results of studies proving the improvement of the operational properties of a fur semi-finished product due to the inclusion in the dyeing process of solubilized keratin (SK) as a protein protector that protects the fur skin from the action of aggressive reagents and media, due to its high affinity with hair keratin. Using solubilized keratin in the process of dyeing a semi-finished fur product, the author in his studies assesses its quality according to the main indicators, the main emphasis is on the physical and mechanical properties of the skin tissue and hair. It is shown that with the spreading method of using solubilized keratin and adding it to the dyeing bath when dyeing a fur semi-finished product, the properties of the leather fabric do not change and meet the regulatory requirements. At the same time, the strength of the hair increases by an average of 14 % and 11 %, the abrasion of the hairline is reduced by 22 % and 13 %, respectively, in comparison with the standard technology, which indicates a protective effect of keratin and an improvement in the operational properties of fur.
