Abstract. One of the most relevant areas of development of the clothing industry is the development of clothing models with advanced features, as such innovations can seriously affect the standard of living and human security. The article considers the research of the introduction of led signaling panels in children’s upper shoulder clothing, the purpose of which is to increase the visibility of a person on the roadway. To identify the interest of consumers in purchasing such a model of jacket, as well as the optimal characteristics of signaling elements, surveys were conducted among direct consumers and people who are intended for these signals – motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists.

The results of surveys described in the article showed that the use of light technologies in the production of children’s outerwear, in the opinion of respondents, will contribute to increasing the visibility of children, both on the roadway and in the pedestrian zone. The experiment also identified the characteristics of LED elements that will contribute to the effective performance of this function: the number of elements, their size, shape, location and content. Based on the information collected during the survey, the authors concluded that one or two large-sized signal elements (with a side greater than 13 cm) located in the area of the shoulder blades and on the outside of the sleeve, square in shape, with short symbols and bright light will be most effective in traffic conditions.

Based on the results of the experiment, the authors proposed options for artistic solutions of the children’s jacket model with embedded led panels. In the course of expert analysis, the model with the highest ratings for significant characteristics was selected.
