Abstract. There are many ways to talk about clothes, and most often, the narrative is associated with the concepts of form, proportions, style, color and decorative solutions. For example, the form is simple, complex, natural, volumetric, fantasy, etc. How the form is obtained is also significant: by means of pattern cutting calculations or by toilng. Or about the stylistics, how relevant is this other style, how it manifests itself in a different assortment, how it changes over time, etc. However, there are characteristics and properties of clothing that are more related to a better understanding of how the human body manifests itself through clothing. The article discusses such a concept as «corporality». What corporality is as a term and how bodily standards are formed and changed? The focus is on how does physicality manifest itself in fashion. How do fashion body standards and body codes interact in the work of designers? The authors find answers to these questions by analyzing certain stages in the development of fashion history associated with global changes in the costume. The written work examines the period of changes in fashion from the 1950s to the present day from the point of view of the relationship between clothing and the human body. In different periods, a fashionable body influenced by what was happening in society, culture, politics, changed its external characteristics. But not only time creates its fashionable body, every designer also builds their own strategy regarding the vision of the body and in relation to the figure. The abstract proposes a classification of body codes, presented in the form of a table, reflecting certain features of each code and designers working in a certain code direction.
