Abstract. The authors, as part of the project team, are engaged in the analysis and creation of functional product designs that ensure the convenience of using the product by various consumers with differences in body and perception. The study is devoted to the important problem of the variability of human body parameters affecting the fit of clothing. The adaptability of clothing with the help of the developed methodology will allow for a more personalized approach to working with the mass consumer and ensure the customization of the product.

People with age or health characteristics, people who provide care for children or disabled adults, experience a number of difficulties in using clothing items: difficulties or an increase in the time of putting on and taking off clothes due to limited movements of the wearer; visual discomfort due to a specific fit on the figure of unadapted standard products due to the peculiarities of the body shape; dynamic discomfort from-due to the specific fit on the figure of standard products due to the peculiarities of the body shape; violation of the thermal balance of the storage space due to the specific fit on the figure of standard products due to the peculiarities of the body shape; the high cost of specialized garments adapted to the characteristics of the body, produced singly or in small batches; lack of visibility of the consumer in places of increased danger during hours of darkness, provided his low reaction rate.

There is a need to design products that provide at least partial removal of the listed restrictions and allow such design to be organized in mass production conditions without individualization of the basic design, which will significantly affect their cost. Generalization of types of structures makes it possible to produce products on an industrial scale. And it will also make it possible to economically form the final cost of the product directly for the consumer.
