Abstract. This article is devoted to a comprehensive study of Khakas ornament as an integral phenomenon of traditional artistic culture. Through a systematic analysis of historical, art historical, and ethnographic sources, the genesis, semantics, and typological features of Khakas ornamental art are revealed. The ornament is examined as a key factor in shaping a unique national image throughout the historical development of the decorative and applied arts of Khakassia. The article investigates the specifics of compositional solutions and technological techniques in embroidery, as well as the processes of transformation within ornamental traditions.The study systematizes the current state of research on the topic, provides an analysis of the varieties of national costume, basic ornamental motifs, and the principles of their integration into decor. The relevance of the research is determined by the significance of the ornament for understanding Russia’s cultural history and its role in the formation of modern ethno-cultural traditions. Particular attention is paid to the semiotic analysis of ornamental visual imagery, revealing its connection to archetypal meanings and concepts. The research findings are valuable for the fields of art history, ethnology, and cultural studies, and can be utilized in efforts to preserve and revitalize the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia.
