Abstract. The article deals with the issue of transformative design in lace suits, fabrics and lace-like structures. The proposed homeomorphic method of constructive forms modifications is aimed at the widening of opportunities concerning transformative design and foundation of new design-sources. For the moment there’s a lack of methods that can be applied at lace-items designing, while new technologies require re-thinking in pursuit of new innovative concepts thereof.
The author considers the method of homeomorphic transformation as a method that under certain conditions allows to change the constructive design form without any tear or glue.
Usage of topology properties provides us with new solutions for suit designing.
Approbation of this method is realized via the example of the sphere design, created from circular lace modules (Yu.I. Zelenova). The main condition, ensuring proper functioning of this method, turns out to be a creation of a hollow sphere and lace spherical cover. As a result, the author has managed to create 14 modified forms (Yu.I. Zelenova). Proving evidence for chosen forms 2 and 3 is provided in formulas and picture, that confirm the hypothesis. There are two conditions checked: before spherical cover deformation and after it – in the first case the square of the spherical cover doesn’t change, in the second one – the square of the hollow sphere doesn’t change. This confirms for sure that deformation without tearing and gluing is possible.
Based on this method, the article presents the author’s range of lace suits (author Yu.I. Zelenova) using modifications of the sphere forms to visualize the action of the developed method in a suit of lace, lace paintings and lace-like structures.
The method of homeomorphic form transformation is challenging for further studies and usage in items with the usage of new materials and technologies, including 3D printing.
