Abstract. When designing clothes for the stage, both functional, ergonomic requirements are formulated, as well as increased aesthetic or special requirements, which may include such an indicator as attracting the attention of the viewer due to unusual elements of the stage costume. Due to the development of lighting technologies, many costume designers emphasize the director’s intention with the help of controlled signals in clothing, for example by introducing luminous decorative elements. For this purpose, materials with the properties of light reflection, fluorescence or technical luminous devices such as cold neon or LEDs are used. The technologies allowing to increase the visibility of stage clothes are investigated and analyzed. The options of stage lighting are considered and ways of using it to illuminate costume elements made of reflective and fiber-optic materials are proposed. The locations of the reflective ones are proposed. fiber-optic materials in a stage costume to obtain a glow effect and highlight individual parts of the costume, as well as the possible sizes and shapes of such elements have been studied. The most popular locations of the luminous elements are identified such as: sections of the supporting surface of the figure visible from the front or when turning from the side, upper and lower limbs, the general contour of the figure. It is proved that the brightness of the glow of reflective and fiber-optic elements of a stage costume depends on the directions under which the light from the stage lighting falls on the costume. The LED parts of the stage costume have been designed to glow in different colors (red, white and blue). To enhance the decorative effect of such details, it is proposed to use translucent textile materials assembled into a folded surface of different densities and positioned above the LEDs to obtain the effect of light scattering.
