Abstract. As part of the study, a design and technological approach to the design of fastening points for decorative metal shoe fittings was developed, based on the principles of socially oriented design and ergonomic safety. The goal of the work is to transfer the aesthetics of bodily modifications into the subject environment as a form of safe consumer self-expression. In the course of the work, key factors influencing the reliability of fastening of fittings were identified, and the anatomical zones and nodes of the greatest deformation of shoes were studied. Particular attention is paid to the selection of a specialized intermediate material, identifying its physical and mechanical properties and performance characteristics. To implement the proposed approach, it is envisaged to use an intermediate layer of foam material in the design of the shoe upper, which ensures a reduction in mechanical impacts and an increase in the performance characteristics of the product. During the study, a design diagram of a decorative fittings fastening unit, a technological sequence for assembling a shoe upper blank, as well as a set of technological documentation, including route, technological and instructional maps, were developed. The methodological basis of the work was an integrated design and experimental approach, including the analytical stage, comparative analysis and design development. The practical significance of the research lies in the development of a collection of shoes with the integration of a design solution that allows for the implementation of the aesthetics of bodily modifications, without direct impact on the human body, in compliance with ergonomic requirements. The results obtained confirm the possibility of combining expressive decorative solutions with the requirements of ergonomics, anthropometric safety and manufacturability of footwear production.
