Abstract. The article explores the interaction between Eastern and Western cultural traditions and their influence on the formation of fashion trends. Political and economic events directly or indirectly influence consumer demand and, consequently, fashion and trends.

The article is devoted to the process of designing a modern collection based on the cultural traditions of two countries: Ancient China, as a representative of the East, and Ancient Greece, as a prominent representative of Western civilization. The cultural heritage of these countries is so vast and significant that it cannot fail to influence the development of new trends in the global fashion industry. The trend towards a return to the history and culture of different peoples, the fusion of different cultures with the application of modern trends, is an interesting experiment, in the course of which completely new forms and images of modern costume may be born.

The article provides an analytical overview of the costume complex of Ancient China and Ancient Greece, and conducts a comparative analysis of the form, construction, symbolic, ornamental, and coloristic solutions of women’s and men’s clothing in a historical retrospective. The stages of developing a modern women’s collection are considered, with the possibility of introducing artificial neural networks as a tool that expands the designer’s capabilities — from searching for ideas to presenting them in virtual space.

An important stage in the creation of a collection is the artistic sketching and design of the collection, when the findings previously obtained in the process of researching historical costumes are transformed into new, unique modern images and products.
