Abstract. The article is devoted to the design of a functional knee pad with increased fixation to protect against deformation of the knee joints during everyday wear or sports. A comprehensive analysis of knee joint injuries in athletes and features of the knee joint has been carried out. Key problems were identified: overextension of the knee joint, sudden extension and flexion, leading to internal rotation, uneven development of leg muscle groups, unnatural leg positions. As a result of the study of literary research, the main requirements for knee pads of increased fixation have been identified. An appropriate patent analysis was carried out and the shortcomings of existing knee pads models were identified. The integration options and the optimal location of the stiffeners in the knee pad system of increased fixation are considered. The article discusses the key aspects of the design of a functional knee brace with increased fixation that require special attention: the quality of fixation in the knee joint, the shape stability of the product, thermoregulation in the area of increased sweating (popliteal fossa). Based on the research conducted in this paper, a new model solution for a functional knee brace with increased fixation is proposed and developed, corresponding to the features of the anthropometric structure of the knee joint with changes in the dynamic characteristics of the knee. The key difference of the developed model is a unique design solution that provides additional stabilization of the knee joint (an integrated system of flexible stiffeners that provide micro-correction of the position of the knee joint, preventing its displacement and reducing the load on it). This reduces the likelihood of injury and damage to the knee joint, which is especially important for people who engage in active sports or have increased leg strain.
