Abstract. The article proposes a method for the cyclical design of digital clothing based on the iterative interaction of generative neural networks and physical simulation in the CLO 3D virtual environment. Unlike linear approaches, where AI is used primarily to create sketches and simulation is used only to visualize them, the proposed method establishes a cyclical process of interaction between the designer, the algorithm, and the virtual environment. The concept of a digital costume is introduced, the form of which arises in the process of dialogue between the designer, the neural network, and physical simulation. Five stages of the method are described: formulation of the idea in the form of a text description, creation of initial details using a neural network, formation of a three-dimensional shape under the influence of simulation in CLO 3D, analysis of unintended but aesthetically valuable effects (folds, sagging, deformations) and transformation of these effects into a new text query for the next cycle. A classification of possible ways of developing a form is proposed: convergent, divergent, oscillating. To denote the most expressive effects that arise in simulation and serve as a source of new ideas, the term «aesthetically significant artifacts» is introduced. The method opens up prospects for the creation of innovative forms that are unattainable in traditional design.
