Abstract. While designing kidswear, designers are faced with the task of creating aesthetically attractive models both for children and their parents or adult relatives. One of the surest ways to create commercially successful collections is to develop repeat prints that will be trendy by the time the ready garments are available for sale. It is shown, that knowledge of the criteria for identifying the identity of designer and the target audience is important in determining preferences of choice, as well as color vision as a psychosemiotic cognitive complex or psychosemantic construct containing the whole spectrum of meanings and personal meanings of the individual consciousness of people.
The purpose of the article is to match the author’s design of repeat prints designed for the children’s collection of “Outventure” brand, under which outdoor clothes designed for walking and leisure are producing, for a girl’s clothing group, with the theory of fashion rhythm. The theory, developed as a part of the doctoral dissertation by G.I. Petushkova, was introduced since 2004 into the educational process of Costume Design Department of the Russian State University by A.N. Kosygin (Technologies. Design. Art) in the form of a basic textbook, which makes it possible to annually test data in diploma projects and dissertations of students and graduate students. In the proposed version, a hidden experiment was applied. The creativity was not programmed by theory, and the artist was free to follow his intuition. All the garments with the above prints were sold very well in the stores of Sportmaster LLC. It was valuable to check “harmony” with “algebra” and adjust methodological settings in the calculation of the project production cycle and consumer demand, and, at the same time, once again verify the theory.
