Abstract. The article attempts to generalize and classify sewing products called «smart» clothes. The definition of this concept is given, distinctive features are considered, historical information about its appearance and development is presented, as well as a brief overview of foreign and Russian developments. It is shown that smart clothing is divided into two types according to the level of implementation of high-tech technologies: with built-in sensors and clothes based on functional textiles. Based on a review of the literature, the authors proposed a classification scheme for «smart» clothing, which is based on a division by field of application (medicine, military, industry, fashion, sports, etc.), principle of operation (through the use of electronics, functional textiles and combined appearance) and functionality («personal» doctor, carrier information, a source of comfort, a personal assistant in sports). The fields of application in medicine, protective clothing, and sports are considered. In the latter, there are three directions: the use of external sensors for monitoring the state of the human body and the recognition of gestures and the position of the body for the evaluation of the effectiveness of exercises. And also the application of smart-textiles with the functions of moisture removal, cooling, air permeability for maintaining a comfortable temperature and ventilation during physical exertion, thermal insulation, electronic-informational smart-textiles. In sportswear, built-in GPS systems are also used to track routes and distances. personal identification; personal navigation It is indicated that electronic devices are usually integrated into clothing by sewing them into specially designed nodes or directly into textiles with the help of flexible electronic components.
