Abstract. Modern fashion is undergoing a period of transformation under the influence of technological and social transformations, as well as in connection with the change of the general design design paradigm towards sustainable development. Thus, there is a need to develop design principles that reflect the environmental concept.
In the article, the authors identified five tasks of ecological costume design:
- purification of the production cycle;
- optimization of production speed and change of fashion trends;
- striving for awareness, responsibility, humanity and ethics in the processes of production and consumption;
- preservation and maintenance of the diversity of cultures and awareness of the diversity of real individual needs;
- harmonization and humanization figurative and ideal-forming.
Based on the technological, content and aesthetic components of ecological design, the authors formulated nine principles for designing a suit:
- the principle of resource cycling, aimed at cleaning the production cycle, raw material flows of processing methods and safe disposal;
- the principle of saving resources, aimed at optimizing the consumption of resources, not only material, but also temporary, human, labor and creative;
- the principle of awareness acts as a guarantee of compliance with the norms of sustainable and ethical production and consumption;
- the principle of safety of products, materials and production for humans and the environment;
- the principle of transparency is based on the availability of information about all stages of production;
- principle of durability;
- the principle of locality is based on the characteristics of the region;
- the principle of anthropomorphism indicates increased requirements for ergonomics, focuses on the interaction of the suit and the body;
- the principle of individualization implies maximum personalization of products.
Keywords: ecological design; design principles; environmental design component; durability; locality; globalization; individualization; anthropomorphism
