Abstract. In this study, the author describes the stages of developing a methodology for modular design of kids wear industrial series intended for younger schoolchildren. The choice of this age group is not accidental: among children of the primary school group, the size of the body changes very noticeably and quickly. Children become, for the most part, taller and more slender. The bulge of the belly disappears, the limbs lengthen. Between the ages of 6 and 12, most children grow 5–7 cm per year. A large share in the increase in growth falls on the length of the legs (up to 5 cm per year). Frequent change of clothes leads to significant expenses. Modular clothing, due to the possibility of transformation, allows solving this problem. In the mass and serial production of clothing in our country, the principles of modular design have not yet taken their rightful place. This is primarily due to the insufficient amount of data required to create CAD programs. The introduction of modular design into the mass production of clothing will become possible only if there is an updated methodological base. As a result, consumers will be able to independently change the finished products in appearance and size, which will help to increase the life cycle of products and more conscious consumption. The number of interpattern lunges is much lower when cutting modules than when cutting products built using the currently used design methods in mass production. Given the current trends towards sustainable production and waste reduction, as well as the global economic crisis and the decline in the purchasing power of the population, a comprehensive study of modular clothing design is a promising direction for researchers in the field of costume design. The method of kids wear modular design, developed as a result of this study, can be used to develop computer programs and automatic clothing design systems.
