Abstract. Hospital clothing is characterized by special functionality. The article discusses the process of designing a set consisting of a shirt and trousers, intended for use in hospital and at home, by injured consumers with transosseous fixation devices installed on the limbs.

The authors summarized the global experience and design features of clothing for consumers with limited mobility, which includes patients with complicated limb injuries during treatment. Medical psychologists testify to the significant role of aesthetic and ergonomic characteristics of clothing for patients. Physical and mental comfort has a positive effect on the recovery process of hospital patients. The experience of designing clothing for bedridden patients shows that products should be detachable along several contours, which facilitates medical and hygienic procedures. The authors found that such a design and technological solution is acceptable for clothing intended for patients with limb injuries. Treatment of complicated skeletal injuries is based on repositioning and fixation of bone fragments for their subsequent fusion. Positioning of the injured skeletal area occurs using transosseous fixation devices, which are characterized by the bulkiness of metal structures. The study confirmed that typical cut clothing with a smooth shell does not provide ergonomic comfort to consumers.

The authors have developed and patented a design and technological solution for a clothing set for consumers of the target group. A distinctive feature of the set is the presence of removable inserts in the places where the products are opened. If necessary, static inserts are replaced with folded parts. A special method of laying and fixing longitudinal folds on the inserts allows for an increase in the volume of the product to bend around the protruding parts of the metal structures of transosseous fixators.

An analysis of the relevance of designing clothing for consumers with complicated limb injuries shows the prospects for development, since the demand for these products is affected by the spread of domestic and industrial injuries, the frequency of military conflicts and man-made disasters, as well as the use of transosseous fixation technology in medical programs for the treatment of congenital pathologies of skeletal development.
