Abstract. Nowadays, environmental problems come to the fore and are an important aspect in any field of human activity. In the modern fashion industry, such a direction as conscious fashion has already gained sufficient popularity, in which the environmental indicators of a product are directly related to its quality.

The aim of the research is to develop the concept of «luxury» footwear made from hemp-based materials. The article discusses the concept of creating «luxury» footwear designs. The authors expressed the opinion that modern luxury products should be made of natural materials, as safe as possible not only for humans, but also for the environment. The rationale for the use of hemp-based materials is presented, as well as scientific research in this area. The relevance of the development and production of footwear from materials based on industrial hemp is shown. There are three main components that explain the choice of material for the upper of the shoe. They are as follows: a historical or successive moment, the therapeutic and prophylactic properties of hemp fiber and the ecological component, due to the absence of chemicals in the cultivation and processing of raw materials, belonging to rapidly renewable local resources. The authors present the formation of the concept of a collection of modern luxury footwear. The conceptual components are indicated that combined modern trends (individuality, functionality, environmental friendliness), the principles of conscious fashion (eco-friendly products, natural and ecological materials, functionality and quality, the system from person to person, transparency of production processes) and the characteristics of the «luxury» class (exclusivity, individual approach and high quality). At the end of the article, the authors concluded that footwear made from materials based on technical hemp will contribute to the creation of an assortment of exclusive high quality footwear with good hygienic properties, which has a health-preserving effect on humans. This approach is being developed within the framework of the dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences Krasnovaya A.V. and it is supposed to be introduced into the educational process of the department «Artistic modeling, design and technology of leather goods».
