Abstract. Modern museums are looking for new ways of interaction and cooperation with the participants of a single media space, which is formed using the capabilities of the digital environment and multimedia technologies. This article discusses the most common interactive technologies and platforms that influenced the new format of the museum and added media expansion to the traditional museum space. In the context of the disclosure of this topic, the question is raised about the role of museum interactive technologies, audio guides, virtual tours and Internet excursions, augmented reality (AR) applications. New designations of the modern media space are proposed, taking into account museum branding and storytelling — the internal media space of the museum and the external unified museum media space of a city, district or country.
Digital projects of modern museums of fashion, everyday life and decorative art are analyzed — «Fashion Gallery» of the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), IEC «Fashion Museum» (Moscow), «Museum of Archeology» (Rosa Khutor, Sochi). The example of the audio guide of the walking tour «Sewing Way» shows an example of connecting the internal media space of a separate museum — the Iron Museum, the Museum of Antique Sewing Machines, the Museum of Peasant Life — with the external museum media space of the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky into a single concept.
The museum space of the new interactive «Museum of Archeology» (Rosa Khutor, Sochi) is investigated, the principles of exposition design, techniques of reconstruction of epochs, everyday life and historical costume are shown. An audio guide has been created for the Yuri Novikov Ceramics Museum (Sochi). Several types of augmented reality applications are formulated: exploring the route of a museum exhibition; getting acquainted with the museum’s collection; restoring the shape and original appearance of an object by its structure; demonstrating a process or action; obtaining additional information using «points of interest»; reconstruction of everyday life and historical costume.
Keywords: media space of the museum; fashion and everyday life museums; reconstruction of everyday life and costume; audio guides for museums; AR application; media design
