Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of the urgent task of ensuring the socio-psychological adaptation of people with amputated limbs, in order to overcome barriers to socio-psychological adaptation, including the transition from passive participation to active creative activity of people with disabilities.
The article describes the stages of rehabilitation of people with amputated limbs, an important final stage of which is socio-psychological adaptation, including the formation of psychological readiness for social adaptation, healthy strategies for overcoming difficulties, and achieving emotional balance.
One of the factors ensuring effective socio-psychological adaptation of amputees in the initial period of rehabilitation is the presence of clothing that excludes the concentration of attention of others on the physical characteristics of the wearers, which is an important means of adaptation at different levels (physiological, psychological, social) in the process of fulfilling their functions.
The need for socio-psychological adaptation of people with disabilities requires the production of inclusive and adaptive clothing that provides comfort in everyday life, improves the quality of life and accelerates such adaptation through achieving positive self-esteem and appreciation of the appearance of others, if it is both functional and consistent with the main fashion trends.
At the same time, clothing that aesthetically and ergonomically meets the needs of people with disabilities can be considered inclusive; clothing that is able to adapt to the needs of different categories of wearers, including healthy people, is adaptive.
The purpose of the study is to establish the most significant characteristics, to search for optimal design solutions for adaptive clothing for amputees to facilitate and shorten the period of their socio-psychological adaptation. To achieve this goal, an analysis of analog models of adaptive clothing was carried out.
Adaptability as a principle of clothing design will allow for a more personalized approach to working with the mass consumer and at the same time ensure the necessary customization of the product to meet individual human needs, which will significantly affect its cost.
