Abstract. This article explores the concept of posthumanism as a source for fashion forecasting. External and internal vectors of human changes are distinguished, associated both with the transformation of his relationship with the environment, and with the processes of transforming the body through technology. The possibility of the influence of the concept of posthumanism on futuristic design, based on innovative project forecasting, focused on the study of scientific and technological progress, the economic and social sphere of the society of the future, is being studied. On the basis of the posthumanist theoretical principles, the designer-researcher forms models of the supposed image of the posthuman, which can be used in the perspective design of the costume.
Present and past processes analysis, extrapolation and modeling of one or several options of future image manifests in changing forms. In terms of futuristic fashion design, the technological content is as important as its visual part, as it creates the new functionality that answers the needs of the future human, which constantly transforms.
This article explores the possibilities of the innovative trend in fashion design, tech couture, in terms of designing the image of the future and reflecting the changes of human self-identification, and in terms of post-humanism theory, that aims to interpret the changes in the world and in human society. Tech couture is studied and classified by the convergent technological directions as follows: nanotechnologies, biotechnologies, informational and communicative, cognitive and social-humanitarian technologies.
