Abstract. In this article, the authors identify the main features of postmodern art in the context of its influence on the development of new trends in fashion design using the example of graduate design projects carried out by students of the Department of Design at the Crimean University of Culture, Arts and Tourism. This study examines the factors of influence of historical styles, modern art, metaphor, and the mixing of architectonic systems on the formation of new artistic and imaginative solutions in the graduation proposals of clothing collections. The authors also draw attention to the importance of postmodernism as the main factor influencing the formation of new trends in the field of fashion design and construction. The article outlines the importance of the designer’s personality, philosophy and worldview on the interpretation of modern artistic images in clothing collections.

The presented study analyzes innovative, artistic and aesthetic ideals embodied in modern conceptual proposals using the works of young specialists as an example. The authors provide a generalized description of the concept of costume design as a type of professional activity, as well as the importance of the scientific and educational base in the process of forming a new generation of clothing designers. The article also examines fashion as a socio-cultural phenomenon. The characteristic features of the process of creating a concept for clothing collections are highlighted and described as the main factor influencing the artistic solution of the project.

Considerable attention is paid to the description of the students’ diploma theses presented in the study, and the figurative, constructive, authorial solution and the relationship of the presented projects with the trends of postmodern art are analyzed.
