Abstract. This article examines the change in the properties of fabrics used in sewing workwear for employees of the oil and gas complex in the processes of repeated washing and laboratory wear from abrasion. Special clothing should be made of high-quality fabrics that guarantee the safety of health and life of workers in the oil and gas industry. In addition, it must retain its protective properties throughout its entire service life. During operation, fabrics undergo gradual wear under the influence of various factors such as mechanical friction, exposure to chemicals and repeated washing. These factors can significantly reduce the quality and safety of workwear, which makes it necessary to regularly monitor and evaluate the condition of the fabrics.
Currently, a risk-based approach is widely used to analyze the factors that affect people’s lives and health. The nomenclature of safety quality indicators, according to which the possibility of using special clothing in various operating conditions is determined. The choice of fabrics for special clothing for employees of the oil and gas complex should be based solely on regulatory indicators, which are determined by expert assessment, taking into account the risk of harm.
The analysis of changes in the characteristics of materials for such clothes during repeated washing, as well as during laboratory wear tests, makes it possible to simulate their behavior in real-world operation. Based on risk analysis and expert assessment, such indicators as breaking load, hygroscopicity, breathability, length of the charred area, and oil repellency were selected as criteria for changing properties.
