Abstract. The production of textile materials that shield electromagnetic radiation is relevant in connection with the need for these materials in the manufacture of protective individual sets of clothing for workers in specialties who, in the course of their activities, are near sources of powerful electromagnetic radiation. Shielding materials must provide the required shielding factor for electromagnetic radiation over the entire range of required frequencies, have low electrical resistance, withstand high breaking, tearing and abrasion loads, have the required air and vapor permeability to achieve high hygienic properties of manufactured personal protective equipment, and also be stable. to the effects of washing and cleaning. To obtain textile materials with shielding properties, various approaches can be used, among which one of the promising areas is the deposition of metal coatings on textile materials by magnetron sputtering. This method ensures the deposition of highly uniform metal and metal-containing coatings on textile materials of various structures and fibrous compositions, and makes it possible to obtain metal coatings with high adhesion to the substrate, especially when using methods of pre-activation of the surface of a textile material. The article presents the results of a study of the shielding and operational properties of laminated textile materials with copper coatings applied by magnetron sputtering. The conducted studies have shown that in order to obtain textile materials with screening properties while maintaining air and vapor permeability, it is advisable to use metallized fabrics laminated with perforated polymer films. To obtain textile materials with a shielding factor of more than 70 dB, the thickness of the copper coating should be at least 0.3 microns, with a degree of perforation of the polymer film used for fabric lamination, not more than 50 %. The presented results are part of the author’s dissertation research.
