Abstract. Leather from fish skins has high aesthetic characteristics, which allows it to be used in the production of exclusive products. At the same time, its consumer properties, in particular, strength characteristics are not inferior to leathers made from traditional raw materials. However, to date there is no developed technology that can be used for the production of skins from fish skins and the manufacture of light industry products from it. This study aims to develop a technology for the production of skins from the skins of sea and river fish using plasma modification, which will not only expand the range of manufactured leathers and products from it, but also solve the environmental problem of recycling part of the waste from the fish processing industry, which will become raw materials for leather production. The skin of a flounder is considered as an object in this study. Due to the fact that the main part of the skin of fish are proteinoids (proteins related to collagen), in the work, the welding temperature indicator was chosen as a criterion for plasma exposure to the skin of flounder, since it characterizes the degree of fiber structuring and is determined by the transition temperature of the protein from fibrillar forms to globular in the aquatic environment. During the study, it was found that as a result of plasma modification of flounder skins, the structure of the dermis is separated, as a result of which the soaking-ash and pre-tanning processes proceed more efficiently, which contributes to better diffusion and binding of the tanning agent during tanning. Leather obtained with the use of plasma treatment has increased strength and hygienic characteristics.
