Abstract. This article presents the main results of research into the development of a new model of a knitted jumper for boys of the primary school age group, taking into account consumer preferences. When evaluating consumer indicators of product quality, there are several approaches, namely: absolute, product-oriented, consumer-oriented, manufacturer-oriented and value-based. The key approach in our study is the consumer orientation of a boy of the primary school age group. When designing the model, we used the quality function deployment method (QFD methodology), which takes into account the wishes of consumers in the design, development and production of clothing. The main advantage of this method is the tabular way of processing the obtained expert data, which is called the «House of Quality». The results of the studies of the qualitative and cost characteristics of children’s clothing of the younger age group and social studies in the form of a «tree of properties» of the projected matrix. The analysis of the sold range of children’s clothing products available on the market was carried out in shopping centers in Kazan, for this, three samples of jumpers from the brands Gloria Jeans (Russian Federation, Rostov Region), Acoola (Russian Federation, St. Petersburg), Sela (Russian Federation, St. Petersburg). Based on the results of the survey and expert assessments, the ranking of consumer preferences for quality indicators was carried out by calculating the coefficients of weight and importance of each. The structure of the developed matrix of consumer requirements is based on the identified basic consumer requirements for quality indicators of the children’s clothing range. When designing the labeling of products, digital information about the product (cuar code) was developed. Artistic and technical sketches of a knitted jumper for boys of the primary school age group with improved performance are presented.
